Moodboards

For this moodboard I collected a lot of images showing highly detailed textures of wood and stone, I did this as my design will be using wood and stone and I will want to texture them correctly to make my design as good as possible. I chose some of the darker wood textures as to me they look burnt and that is an important part of my design due to the fact that my design will be featuring burnt trees and a burnt part of the house. I also collected stone textures because I like the fact of having a stone part of the house as I feel it could really liven up the design, one of the best uses for a stone texture I feel would be to create a chimney on the side of the house and then that could be made out of stone which would ultimately make the design a lot better.

This second moodboard I have created shows a large amount of screenshots of timber piles, I chose to make a moodboard of timber piles as I want to add one to my design. I feel that by adding a timber pile to my design it will greatly enhance it and will also help push my grade up, since I managed to gather a lot of images I will have a lot to look at and will be able to get the colours for a timber pile correct. I will also be able to create a set of logs that look realistic but I’m also going to be spreading them over the floor of the design as I feel that this is the best way to improve my design, I will be able to add different logs to my design as I have such a large moodboard with multiple images of different logs.

This next moodboard is focused on burnt forests and burnt trees, this is because a large part of my design is going to be focused on making a burnt section. I managed to collect a large amount of images because of this it will give me more information and more ideas on how to accurately create a burnt forest. Following this I will also be able to look at the textures used on these trees and hopefully be able to create my own texture which is a near match to these trees while giving it my own twist to ensure that it is unique.

This fourth moodboard represents a lot of broken and burnt houses, I chose these images as they are all different and each display something unique. I really like these images as they are what I am looking to create for my final project. I will be looking at these in close detail trying to get all the colours correct as smoke damage would look really good in my final design and I feel it would make my design look even better. Some of the best images on here that I feel will strike inspiration into me will be the ones where the house is partially falling apart and this is because I have a vision to make the house in my project like that, but I also want to combine that with fire damage as I feel it will look a lot better and tie it more in with the theme of chaos.

This final moodboard I created is purely for Vector designs of what I could create to help make my design look better. In this moodboard I gathered images of vector houses/forests and trees as they will all be used in my final design and I will need a lot of ideas to make them look unique. I wanted to get some pictures of vector houses as I feel it will help me get more skilled in making vector designs and will further improve my knowledge of vector art and how to do it properly. I chose forests and trees as I feel like it will be a fun challenge to make them and the images I chose feature a lot of different types of trees so I will have a lot to chose from and can combine them to make them my own unique design.

Books

In the set of pictures posted below I took a few screenshots from a concept art book, I took the pictures because they looked very nice and also gave me ideas for my design, the first picture shows a lovely forest area with a lot of trees and assets that are highly detailed. The second image shows a detailed chaotic looking area, to me the area looks like a deserted war zone and it looks like the main asset is a skeleton of a very large animal, it looks very good and I feel the colours of this picture could be very useful for me when I try to figure out the colours for my project.

This next set of images came from a Lord Of The Rings concept art book and they have a lot of pictures depicting various scenes throughout the movies. I chose these particular pictures as they were the ones that I liked the most and also the ones that best matched with my main idea which is to do with chaos. The first image shows a battle going down, and uses a lot of dark colours which I feel are a good representation of the theme chaos, by looking at this image I will be able to utilise the colours used and will be able to use them in my design to make it look really good. The second image shows a castle being burnt down, this is good as I want to have some burning going on in my design so I can look at this image and look at all the colours being used for the burning and smoke and then use them in my design, I feel that this will make it more realistic and will help push my grade. The final image we see is a great picture and probably my favourite one of the three pictures that I have posted, this image shows a lot of burning and a lot of fire, by looking at this image I can see how smoke travels and the correct way to create it. By looking at this image I will be able to use the colours and apply them to my design in the hopes to make it look amazing, the smoke will in to play as I will have a few trees still smoking from the chaotic war that has just happened and I might add a bit of smoke coming out of the chimney, I feel to create realistic looking smoke I need to get a correct grey colour and then combine it with some darker greys which will really help it and make it look better.
